Initial meetings


Analysis without the paralysis!
Following your first contact with us we usually suggest an initial face
to face meeting to discuss your requirements in detail.

Our primary objective at this stage is to listen hard to what you have to say and to firmly establish what you are looking to achieve.

We have a lot of experience in a variety of business sectors and it is likely we have previously developed an ecommerce solution for one of your suppliers, clients or even competitors. This will very often enable us to get up to speed quickly with what you are looking for and the challenges you face.

We will typically use some of this time to show you examples of websites to stimulate discussions and clarify requirements. If you have a formal specification document then we will of course retort with more structure at this stage. Either way the objective is to reach a point where we can define requirements and provide you with a clear and accurate proposal.

Prior to this meeting if you do not have a formal specification document you may wish to give consideration to answering the following questions:

What is your primary business goal in relation to this project?
e.g. to reach new markets, to cut sales processing costs, a major client wants to order from you online, etc...

Who are your target audience(s)?
e.g. members of the public, other businesses, both, employees, affiliates, etc..

What is your estimated budget for the solution?
We have a modular ecommerce platform that provides great flexibility for clients who want to start slow and build up or those who have an immediate requirement for a complex site on a tight timeline. With this in mind our clients typically find our pricing policy clear to understand and easy to plan ahead with. Following the initial meeting we will provide you with a detailed proposal that will cover every area of your solution requirements. Some of our clients will modify requirements following this stage should certain features perhaps not be required in the initial roll-out of the site or appear too expensive.

Do you have a separate e-marketing budget?
A key area of Netalogue’s expertise is the provision of next generation e-marketing services. In addition to building and hosting your ecommerce website we can assist you in the drive to get the right kind of web traffic whether this is achieved by integrating it with specific industry marketplaces or simply optimising the site for Google. If your are upgrading your ecommerce solution we can also provide solutions which help you build upon rankings you may have already achieved ensuring you are not taking any steps backwards.

What timeline are you working to?
We will need to know your proposed go-live date in order to ascertain viability and to offer realistic timetable options for the project planning in our proposals.

How involved do you want your team in the development and maintenance?

What is more typical is a relationship which allows for input from the client into certain areas whether they have skills or resources they wish to offer in order to reduce the overall cost of the solution. If your team for instance has a flare for design, is keen to manage the data side of a project, etc.. then let us know and we will price accordingly.

Are there any specific or specialist deliverables you require?
Very often our clients will have a specific “must have” feature in the site which could be interface orientated (e.g. floating shopping basket or navigation), a business process preference (e.g. first time clients can only have orders sent to the registered address of the cardholder) or perhaps and integration requirement (e.g. we wish to integrate the solution to SAP or Sage). It is often a useful exercise to critique what competitors are doing badly and equally what they are doing well in order to establish a shared end user focus.
